Word Works

I got pretty into minimal and conceptual art and theory at college. Sol Le Witt, Dan Flavin, Don Judd, Lucy Lippard, Joseph Kosuth, Barbara Rose, Dan Graham, et al.

I didn’t understand half of it but it was important to me at the time.

I kind of disappeared down a conceptual rabbit hole and found it extremely difficult to come out.

Anyhow, much later, as things eased up, I learnt how to open up again, accept myself, make work, enjoy it, the process of it and the outcomes. Out of this re-opening or unlocking came the Dan Flavin pieces and other ‘Art Heroes’.

These are simple digital drawings, printed then worked back into in ink.
